New Zealand

New Zealand is a small country at the bottom of the map, known for a great work-life balance, beautiful scenery and open spaces. For the fourth year running, New Zealand was voted as Britons’ favourite country in the 2015-16 Telegraph Travel Awards.

New Zealand offers plenty of opportunities to advance your career, while enjoying an enviable work-life balance. Commuting isn’t the big deal it is in the UK and even in the biggest cities you’re only minutes from a beach, native park or mountain biking trail.

It’s a great, safe place to bring up children with easy access to quality education, sports and family-friendly outdoor space. In contrast to the UK, the vast majority of New Zealand’s best quality primary and secondary schools are state-run and free. Your income generally will go further in New Zealand. London is ranked as the 12th most expensive city to live in, according to Mercer’s 2015 Cost of Living survey, while Auckland is 61st and Wellington is 83rd.

I'm just dropping you a line to say thanks for the ticket to Down Under Live. It was well worth the trip and did exactly what I was hoping it would, i.e. tell me something I didn't know I didn't know, if you get me. I had no idea you could speed up the 'getting there' process by making an application for a work visa and a skilled migrant residency visa concurrently.

I'm off to Christchurch NZ on Friday for 14 meetings and an interview next week.
