Working Holidays
This year, over 300,000 people will graduate from college and university in the UK. Even though half of British companies are not planning to take on graduates this year (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) there are still opportunities for graduates who want to take a working holiday in Australia or New Zealand.
Tom Griffiths, founder of Gapyear.com has recently said that travel can be surprisingly affordable if you show initiative. The best destinations he says are Australia and New Zealand, where you can get a range of unskilled jobs like bar work with a working holiday visa.
Travelers can gain entry to Australia on a working holiday visa, which will allow them to travel in Australia for up to a year, and to work for any employer; so long as they stay no longer than 6 months with any single employer.
If you are on a working holiday visa in Australia, then you have the chance to apply for a second Australian working holiday visa. These are available to anyone working in specific occupations in rural Australia for 3 months or more.
